Kim Min-Jae Joins Bayern Munich

Kim Min-Jae, a South Korean defender, has been signed by Bayern Munich on a long-term deal through 2028 after leaving Napoli, the German club announced this afternoon.

Kim said;

“Bayern is a dream for every footballer, I’m really looking forward to what’s to come in Munich. It’s a new beginning for me. I’ll continue to develop here. In discussions with the club, it was made clear to me from the start how interested they are in me. My first goal is to play a lot of games. In addition, I want to win as many trophies as possible.”

The 6’2″ centre back participated in 35 of the 38 Serie A games in 2022–2023. As I Partenopei won their first league championship since 1989–1990. Kim supported the team’s initiatives by winning 63% of his challenges. And only being out-muscled five times (best in Serie A for players who played at least 24 games). Additionally, he boasted a 91 percent pass completion percentage across all tests. In the top five leagues in Europe, no outfield player made as many forward passes (1,057), and he came in third for passes that were successful (2,547).

Kim Min-Jae €50 million release clause was activated by Bayern Munich earlier this month. Despite Manchester United’s attempt to scuttle the deal and the player turning down offers from other clubs. Kim’s main goal was to sign with Bayern Munich.

Prior to Bayern Munich’s announcement, Kim expressed his gratitude to the Napoli supporters in a poignant Instagram post. Kim played 45 games in all competitions while at Napoli, with two goals and two assists.

Before continuing on to Asia for a tour, Kim will now head to Tegernsee, where the club is presently holding its training camp.
