Yibing Wu collapses at Washington DC tennis tournament Wimbledon incident

Yibing Wu had to forfeit his tennis match against Yosuke Watanuki after collapsing on the court in Washington, D.C., just a few weeks after Wimbledon incident.

In this incident, which happened at the Mubadala Citic DC Open, Watanuki received a walkover to the round of 32 after the 23-year-old passed out in front of a stunned audience. He had to first be held up before he could sit on the side of the court.

He collapsed for an unexplained reason at this time. The Wimbledon incident occurred when it was 33C outside in the Washington area, where it is currently very hot. Fans are hoping that the heat is all to blame for this.

But concerningly, Wu has experienced this just recently. According to ESPN, he lost his composure against Frances Tiafoe at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. He apparently had a rapid heartbeat and was having trouble breathing. He soon went back to the court, though, and was defeated in straight sets.

He told

“I mean, no, I had no idea what was going on. I was just, I was like, man, this is wild,” Tiafoe said on court when reacting to Wu’s situation. Then his heart was skipping a beat.”

Having issues with his heart and other things. felt like he was about to collapse inside. I’m going to try and play, he says. I immediately thought, “Oh, we’re about to have a war,” after he said that. He’s going to start playing loose, just as we did.

I was relieved he felt fine and was able to play well and finish the game. The latter two sets, in my opinion, were really challenging. Fun was had. We get along fantastically. Wu is a great guy. There will be a great deal more battles.
