Geoff Shreeves to leave Sky Sports after more than 30 years

After a remarkable tenure of over 30 years, Geoff Shreeves has announced his departure from Sky Sports. The 58-year-old reporter has been a prominent figure in Sky’s Premier League coverage since joining the broadcaster in 1992. Shreeves’ decision comes shortly after commentator Martin Tyler left Sky last month following 33 years of service.

Reflecting on his departure, Shreeves stated, “There’s an old saying that you always have to know the best time to leave even the greatest party, and that’s what my 32 years at Sky have been – the most fantastic party I could ever imagine attending.” He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work for a pioneering company that has revolutionized football, from the inception of live Premier League coverage to Manchester City’s recent title celebrations.

Gary Hughes, Sky Sports’ director of football, acknowledged Shreeves’ invaluable contribution to the team, highlighting his role as the premier tunnel reporter in the business, conducting interviews with renowned personalities at major games for over three decades. Hughes extended the network’s appreciation to Shreeves and conveyed their sincere thanks and well wishes for his future endeavors.

Shreeves’ departure follows the exits of other long-standing Sky Sports figures. Jeff Stelling departed from the flagship show “Soccer Saturday” in May after hosting the program for over 25 years, while former footballer Graeme Souness left his role as a Sky Sports pundit in April after 15 years.
